Storybook’s Story

Chapter 1
This chapter begins with a little girl. This little girl grew up in a quaint little town with her parents and a younger brother... and greenhouses! Great big, giant greenhouses filled with plants- every plant and flower imaginable!
As she grew she learned to love and care for green and growing things. Talking to the flowers and singing them songs, weeding and watering, clipping and planting. However, school and other interests led her away from her home and away from her beloved flowers and plants. Everyone told her that she should get a job and find a place where there was more opportunity. For a while she listened to all those people. And, even though she loved school and travelling, something was missing...

Chapter 2

One day, she returned home. Upon returning, she realized that she had missed the farm, the greenhouses, and all the plants! So she moved home and enjoyed working and loving her plants again. One day, she was out in her garden when IT happened! A dream suddenly began to take shape in her mind. What if she didn't have to stop gardening? She loved flowers and she loved growing plants... why couldn't she share that with people? Why couldn't that be her real job?!

Chapter 3

Working with her beloved flowers was wonderful! So much to learn and so much to do! So so so much to do… it was beginning to be too much for one person to do. Just about that time when she was losing a battle with weeds and lists, her knight in a shinny red truck showed up. He didn’t defeat the weeds (no one can do that!) but he stepped in to help her and care for her and she in turn fell in love with him. Now, before the wedding could take place, it was even more important for her flowers to bloom and grow! That was when she decided to start a farm. These flowers would grow for her wedding, yes, but then she would keep growing them, keep sharing them, and keep loving them. She would do all this in a little bit of field, in the Okanagan sun, next to the river, right there on the family farm.

My name is Nicole, this is my story and how Storybook Flower Farm came to be. It is not the whole story and it has only just begun, but it is proving to be the most rewarding and exciting adventure of my life.
